No, they don't need to be on wire, Sonja. If it's not breeding season or show season, mine will be back in the large communal pen on the ground. This is just to try to keep them clean for shows.

I actually let my ducks out to fly around a couple of times a week. They don't try to leave-just want to stretch their wings.

Those ducks are gorgeous. Wish I had a place to keep some of them-I'd get some eggs.

Loos like I'll be setting 7 more duck eggs tonight. I had them sold and when I went to meet the lady AT THE SPECIFIED TIME, she decided not to show. That will teach me a lesson. I will not meet anyone else again. If they want it, they can come and get it or I will happily ship it to them. She lives 30 minutes away and I decided to be nice and meet her half way. Lesson learned. I cannot be nice anymore lol

Are these the ones from Duckhousedogs Linda? I had a really good hatch rate from them.

Yes. I'm hatching them in two MiniAdvance EX 'bators. 3 are dark brown and yellow, and one is all yellow. I am so torn because I really want to keep them! At least I'll get to brood them and have them for a time. I have more call duck eggs cookin' too. After those hatch (or don't) I will stick to chicken eggs. I am SO hoping I might be able to sneak a Butterscotch into the yard, maybe a drake? and the landlady won't notice. The girls quacking is what narked me out the first time.
