I knew that most would die in the shell because of the "Crested" gene but it's just sad because most die before they even hatch

I heard about a duck breeder(of 40 years) who said he had thrown out between 1500-2000 eggs this year. If he's not hatching, doesn't look like the rest of us have done too badly.
