Morning folks(well, early afternoon).
Sonja-sorry about the loss of your DHs sorta family member. It was really nice of you all to let her visit with your children.
Duck-Yay for Cochin Bantams!

My poor, poor BLRW rooster...poor Gump. I don't know what to say except he is lacking in the brain cell department. He does so many less than Mensa-like things. This morning he was dust bathing on an empty feed bag-not quite realizing that he wasn't in the dust.

I fear for my flock if he's going to be protecting them.
Still haven't started up the incubator-just can't bear the thought of it in the heat. I could probably incubate them in my garage right now with NO incubator. My Black hen is still sitting her nest so I will probably get a couple more ducklings from her. She's a really good little broody.

Sorry about your DH lose sonja

East its awfully hot here this week huh... 105 heat index yesterday! My poor neighbors ac went out yesterday!!! And their pool broke on Sunday afternoon! I saw the AC repair guy there today so i hope when they come home there house will be nice and cool for them!
Well i was going to give my mother in law the silkies but guess what... she went BROODY! lol My first broody hen! Brat!!! I am going to get some del eggs from a BYC so i might throw a few under her. I wont be seeing my MIL for a little while so... I'll just give her the silkie babies i have. My snowy girl just got done taking a bath. I wanted her to clean herself so i could put some new antiseptics on it and get a better look at it today. It looks much better and i will continue to let her clean herself and then add new cleaning stuff to it. We will be moving chickens back out to the big pen since we finished staking the wire down on the other side and completely burying it. I will also still have the live cage out with tuna in it to lure any predators. I'm sick of predators i cant even tell you how sick of them i am!

Duck, she is just sitting on her own eggs. Gonna have to pull her and the babies out when she hatches them so the baby daddy doesn't hurt them.

When i was in the army i lived in virgina, kentucky and tenn. And before the army i lived in Ohio. Summers up there are NOTHING compared to down here! I also lived in dallas till i was 12 years old but i dont remember how hot it was! I know a new record was set in Tyler a few days ago.... YACK!

Duck is not very happy at the moment...

1. one of the fans in the chicken coop died (no clue, might have a lot of dust in it, I guess)
2. A small hole in the pools liner. About the size of a pens point.
3. Dad put the lid on the chicken waterer way to tight! Took me 10 minutes just to get it off! He screwed it all the way on and you not spose to!
4. And to top it off everyone is being frickin grouch @$$es today!

Can this day get any worse?
