We have them little solar lights around the coops and duck pens maybe that is what is keeping the predators away from our birds?

She will be in a fenced in yard with the chickens. We used to have big dogs outside but they died of old age. I think it's time to get another one.

aww sonja she is beautiful. Zeus was raised with chickens but he still kills my birds so i can't but my big ol mastiff out there. I would get another dog but i'm still pretty sad about my Hera. Sonja i know you can completely understand where i'm coming from.... its super frustrating isn't it! Duck i will try your idea of illuminating around the coops. Those little things aren't expensive at all. We have them going down our path in the front.
Well while DH and i were outside putting the tomato cages up and fixing the trap up one of the dels grabbed my little snowy baby by the back of the head and ripped pretty much half the back of her neck off. DH quickly opened the pen slapped ol mr deli roo on the head and grabbed the snowy. They have been together a while and never had even an issue. They are a million places to hide in the pen and coop so... We took her inside and DH helped me hold her while i put antiseptic on her and got her in a sick hall cage lol. I put the white call duck with her so she wouldn't be lonely. They are cuddled up together right now as we speak. Man i sure hope i get that freaking predator tonight. My neighbors are rooting me on bc our coops are not far from each other.
and duck when my babies start laying next year i'll hook you up!

I just found another Pilgrim Goose to replace the one I lost. I have to drive 3.5 hours to get her but thats just an excuse for a road trip. She ist his years hatch but she is older than my gander.
