Good Nite! I'm gonna go also!

East I hope everything is ok!!! I saw on the radar there were storms in the area so i hope you guys got some rain!!!
Sonja sucks that hubby came out and was making noise. Sounds like something my hubby would do lol.
I haven't gone out yet to check on my birds.... i pray that nothing got to any of them. I will be VERY mad. I've got a 9mm and a few big deer rifles but they are WAY to big of caliber to shoot any small predators. My neighbos got his .22 so i will probably borrow that and sit out there like sonja!

You know i was thinking about it. With my duck eggs it seems that the higher the humidity the better they hatch. So i spray water on them once a day and keep them at 70% then up to 85% at lockdown. When i dont do that i dont seem to have as good of a hatch rate. So i agree with what the SA guys said. I've got two butter eggs going into lockdown this weekend.

Morning. Hope you're all doing OK today.
My massive 5 month old BLRW rooster(we've renamed him Gump because of the way he looks when he runs) crowed for the first time this morning-it was AWFUL.

I'm not sure, but I think it scared him. He hasn't done it again.
I had thought about trying to hatch some more ducklings, but due to this brutal heat-I may rethink it. We have our youngest group with a fan running on them 24 hours a day.
We had another fire break out just north of us yesterday. I'm ready for this to not be a factor. It's really keeping me on edge.

Baby turkeys are doing well-even they are panting due to the heat. Cute little suckers and friendly, too.

LOL Gump the chicken!
You could keep them in the garage or maybe an extra bathroom where he wont find them?
You guys need some rain, I hate to say it but you guys will probably have to wait till a hurricane or tropical storm comes along...
I'm on watering ducks duty today! Spose to get really hot and humid today.

Duck, we have the ducklings in the garage and DH is the one that moved the fan about 3 inches from the fully open wire cage we have them in. He actually keeps telling me to turn the incubator back on and hatch some more-it's me that is resistant to this idea.
I agree 100% on what it will take to break our drought, duck. We vote for a tropical storm-those bad boys can dump a rear end load of rain in a few days and we need it!
I'm always on watering duty. Now it's a matter of going out 4 times a day and putting frozen water bottles in bowls, spraying ducks, etc. I told my sister that they were going to find me passed out by the duck pens from heat stroke while trying to keep the birds cool.

We need this, only not QUITE so much. This was in my neck of the woods.

Hey everyone!
It was SOOO hot today! Yuck! I was so mad this morning. I went to check on my birds and my extra young delaware rooster was gone and i could see where the assailant pulled him out under the wire where i didn't have a zip tie holding it down. %$#&!!!! And of course DH this morning was like "i told you to put the trap back out there!" and of course i just glared at him. This is really making me so so mad. Out of no where after having birds for a year bam huge predator problem. I feel like just cussing and jumping up and down.

I mean i have two pens with dogs runs hooked to coops and chicken wire all the way around it. I mean its like FT. Knox and those *&%$#@% are still getting birds out.... i'm sorry lol i'm just SO mad about it. Of course i'm going to put the trap out there and we will see how it goes from there. My butters hatch this weekend but i will probably be going to visit my momma this weekend. Its her birthday on wednesday.
We need a hurricane or tropical storm to happen for sure east. I got so excited bc the first one of the season is happening but its hitting way south. come on storms.

Nooooooooo!! That sucks! I haven't lost any birds except one of my rouen ducks over the winter from natural causes.

The tomatoes are finally blooming and there's some small tomatoes on some of them.

yeah i have two that look like they will make it too lockdown.
Our tomatoes just started getting little green maters on them this week. Hubby is actsually at the store getting our tomatoe cages. I collected lots of peppers, green beans, peas, and a few onions. All my birds have there mouths open panting in this heat. My turkeys necks are starting to lose feathers and they are starting to mature nicely! But they eat SOOOOO much food! lol They are always hungry! I feed crumbles in the morning and scratch at night and those suckers eat the whole BIG bowl of food i give them! So be prepared east!
So i think i'm going to give my MIL my laying pair of silkies.... I'm just not into them i guess. She said she'd love them take them so... I really wanna work on the delawares, marans, sussex and welsummers. If i even have any birds left...
sad.png
My dels are suppose to start laying by the end of this month but with the heat i doubt i will see any eggs till august
