2 more weeks and I will have some of my own little baby calls
They could be white, gray, blue fawn or butter. I could have a mini silver appleyard in there too.
I will take another peek at them tonight to make sure they are all still growing strong.
We had a little barnyard incident last weekend. I had a pitch fork up against the door to on of the coops and it fell over and hit one of the silkie roos in the head. Poor little guy flopped around a little and died
I really need to get rid of them but I didn't want him to go that way
I keep moving everyone around because whenever the silkies were in the main coop I would lose one of the pullets. I think I finally figured out that one of the silkie cockerals is probably to blame. The boys are free ranging now and one of them has been relentless going after the others, there are feathers every where out there. I stuck just him back in with the geese and the other boys are all being nice to each other now. I am betting that that boy had something to do with the other that died including my beautiful split lav cockeral
The silkie pullets are in with the big girls now and they all seem to be doing just fine. I have my bantam cochin roo in there who is a gentelman and my BC Maran's cockeral who also seems to be a gentleman.
We were sooooo excited today because my silver phoenix hen finally laid an egg
She started laying at 15 weeks and went broody at 23 weeks and hasn't laid since then. She will be 2 in June.
I am a little worried about my call hen. She hasn't laid since I put them back outside and her belly looks swollen. She did finally make a nest today but no egg. If she doesn't lay one tomorrow I'm going to have to do something.
