I got a new flashlight tonight when we were at the store! Boy am I tired! I mowed the yard, fixed up the pens a little more, clean coops, clean house, did laundry ect.... I am just now sitting down and i feel drained! But i'm so happy i got my new flashlight!!! I'm going to candle!

So I candled! Butters still good, second batch of quail eggs are developing, too early still to tell with goose eggs. I wish funky feathers would put some more butter eggs up... I'd buy some in a heartbeat! I got some egg $ to spend and nothing tp buy! How awful is that?

Morning all.

Sonja-so sorry about your SA hen. That's a shame.
Ady-PM that girl about those Butter eggs-she probably has some more for sale.

I have a single pip in the incubator-no progress in several hours, though, so we shall see what happens.

oh man... this has not been a good week for my birds. I went to do my feeding this morning and i had put my ducks in the pen with my one older delaware rooster. (my dog had killed his brother the other day when the makeshift gate fell down and my dog got stupid...

The pen is completely fenced on the outskirt of it, has a good door on it (now) and no space to crawl under. Its a 4ft fence. I didn't see any dig marks and no feathers. But three full grown birds gone.... my poor black drake is all thats left. I put him in the other chicken pen that hasn't lost any birds (yet

) I think its an owl. Has to be right? The tops open so that has to be the way they are getting taken. I mean no noticable dig marks, no feathers, no body or blood??? My dog is inside all night and the last time he was out last night i had just come back from tucking birds into bed and i watched him while he was out and came back in. My other two smaller pens that i have are coops with dog kennel runs attached to them. And i have never lost a bird in those enclosures.... i dunno! Ughhh I'm so sad i loved those ducks

We are finishing the coop this week... hubby is so upset and mad. He was becomming a huge fan of the ducks. They hung around him when he was working on the coop.
east i am going to pm her this morning.
YAY FOR A PIP!!!

Ady, if it makes you feel any better, it almost sounds like the ducks flew out-believe me, they can and will do it. If you see no feathers, no blood, no dig marks, etc., they may have just flown out.
I'm really sorry this happened, but I sure hope they just took off and will come home.

Thanks east... I thought they may have flown out too. The pond isn't too far from the coop so i thought they'd be down there but i didn't see or hear anyone... hopefully they are just sleeping and will come back around the house later today

I sure hope your bird week gets better, ady. Seems like when it rains, it pours with our flocks/hatching, doesn't it?
I had to help my ducky in the incubator a bit this morning-I zipped the shell for him/her a bit because it is day 27 and no progress since yesterday. He's still alive and I'd like to keep him that way! Looks like a singleton on this hatch and I HATE that for him. Oh well, as soon as he's a bit bigger, I'll put him in with the 3 Musketeer Call ducklings.

OK, just so you know it's REALLY me, I must tell you about my rant du jour...last night a couple of DHs family/friends came over for a visit-no problems, I sat out in the garage and visited with them until about 10:30. Told them I was going to take a shower and then we needed to eat dinner(hint, hint). I got out of the shower and they were STILL here. OK, well, I went out and told them I was going to bed, and I did. About 1 am this morning, there is a knock on my bedroom door and DHs nephew hollers, "Night, Aunt Sheila, love you." Very sweet, but c'mon on, people... Then I went out this morning to take the garbage can to the road(mind you, I wasn't wearing shoes-my bad) and found a broken beer bottle on my driveway which I proceeded to try to clean up, and of course, cut my foot. Moral of this story-wear shoes outside the morning after there is an impromptu kegger in your garage...

I dont get it... all birds are good for weeks and then bam a big spurt of bad luck with birds and hatches!!! We will get through it!
aww east!

Hubby holds those impromtu keggers sometimes too! I'm not a big fan of people not leaving when i drop the "i'm going to bed hint!" My husband thinks im a lamo!
He wants to go to the lake this weekend and i dont want too. He threw a little kid fit last night bc i said i'd rather stay and work on the coop. I told him he could go but i have things to do since the last three weekend in a row things have been put off due to family visiting and stuff. Lol i wanna hang out with the birds more than people this weekend. lol

Too bad you don't live closer, ady-I'd send my DH to the lake with your DH. He wants to go but says he can't because he's working on my breeding pens for my ducks.

I'd rather hang out with my birds than people most days, to tell you the truth.
