Only 7 lonely duck eggs here.... They go on lockdown Sunday.... Lets hope nothing goes wrong on this hatch!

The ONLY thing in my one bator is duck eggs. I have calls and SA's and I have some Welsh Harlequin for my friend. I am done with chickens for the year. YAY lol

I had a hawk scalp one of my little Jaerhon chicks today. It's amazing how resilient these birds are. He's quiet, but he's eating and drinking.
I have him in a cage in the garage so he'll be warm and I put some medicine on his head. When DH gets home from the lake, we'll give him a shot of PenG.
It has been a bad weekend for feathers at my house. There are feathers ALL over the place.

I just tried to candle my call eggs that lockdown tomorrow and one is already pipped

. Why didn't he warn me lol . I am having to warm up another bator right now. It's time for the LG to go back to work.

I'm gonna call it a night and go take a shower. Ready for the weekend to be over and hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Sonja I'm hatching calls this weekend and it hasn't gone too well. I had 9 eggs going into lockdown. I have 2 babies in the brooder and 2 more still in the bator. They are starting day 28 now. The one remaining white still has yolk left and has to kick free of the shell. I found a gray one that was out of the shell dead a little while ago

I have one shipped snowy egg due soon and I think it is still alive. I am debating going in tonight on it because it just doesn't look right to me. It is starting day 25 now I think.

Duck, stay far, far away from that mess over there.

Well when I changed to eggs to the LG I had two pips. The way my luck has been running with ducks I went ahead and delivered the two heads and I will let them kick out by themselves. I had more eggs that died right at lockdown. They were fine two days ago

. One had even pipped internally. I eggtopsied him and he was formed right but his head was really twisted in the egg. Besides the two I started hatching tonight, I have 2 more eggs left to hatch. Only one of those shows any type of movement at all. I guess we will see.
