How to use plywood to attach perches. I sometimes peel my sticks to help discourage mites. Right now i am more worried about racoons since one popped open a latch last night on the brooder! Good thing i had two latches on it since the snake episode.
I cut two pieces of plywood and run two parallel screws into the middle so the tip of the screw just pokes out of the plywood. The plywood goes on the outside of the wire, the stick on the inside, then drill the screw into the stick. If you use larger mesh, you might want to use a big enough piece of plywood to shield the chickens from predators while on the perch. View attachment 1101413
I used branches for my 1st 3 hens but went to 2x4s for their comfort. They all went to the 2x4s immediately after I hung them.

Cappy, an impact driver can be electric or cordless
it vibrates as it turns. supposed to be less stress on the screw driver motor. I have one milwaukee impact driver, the batteries died years ago, now I just use a corded variable speed drill.
I love the torx screws,. Aart still favors the Philips heads I think,.
got up to 50F today. still plenty of snow left to melt. 38F at 3AM. first time it stayed above freezing at night.

Make the egg collection and cleanup of the coupe easy. Spend more time thinking about the work involved and how to minimize it. Example, below if you put a wheelbarrow in front of that door you can get all the shavings out with a regular push broom. Nobody want to stick their head in a dirty chicken coupe.

For nest boxes, keep them clean with a little shed roof over them to push to waste to the exit. Hopefully the below is a good visual?

very nice

at ten PM we had a heckofa storm,. lots of rain and lightning,
it knocked my computers off line, that is very rare for me.
GS came home from work at six AM. had to detour because the bridge was under water, the water has to rise ten feet for that to happen,.
it doesn't happen very often.
a town 3o miles south of us had 1" hail,

Do you notice that the weather is getting extremer where you live too?
More rains and floodings one year and longer periods with heat and draught in another year?
