Ever since i was a kid i have been nuts about animals. Our first store was in Dartmouth NS, Canada. I was running it, but it was so busy and successful that hubby quit his job to help me run it. It was a small store, and we built the interior ourselves. The wooden shelves for fish tanks, even the bird room that had shelves for cages and a big piece of glass installed as a window for customers to view pets without disturbing them. We built it all.
It was wildly successful, malls used to contact us wanting one of our stores since we kept them clean and people love to look at animals. We ended up with 8 stores in 2 provinces. Some were called RJ's pets after our 2 sons, Robert and Jon.
The stores kept us busy for sure. We started in the late 70s and were still in business before we decided to move to FL for a better climate in late 1992. We sold everything except what fit in our cargo van and car before we moved. It was a very long trip!

awesome Cappy, it is so unexpected what a person can learn about other people,

I was a time keeper for a large construction company in Minn. we had about 200 tradesmen.. I kept the times and wrote out all of the checks..
what I am getting at; after talking to some of these rugged men, I learned that there were college graduates,
one guy built clocks. the inner workings..
cooks, woodworkers , dog trainers, etc..
when I used to go to Florida for a few weeks each winter, I met a guy who was retired and quite wealthy. He used to sell tropical fish.. who would think ??
I met a lot of wealthy people there, they must have thought I was, too.. LOL
going to F&F now to get my sanding stuff.

......jiminwisc.....

I got the sanding table all done.
adjusted so that the belt runs straight and true.
didn't run any wood on it yer because it is still in the kitchen "work shop"..

eventually I would like to make a circle cutting jig for it and make new 2" x 4" rollers and put ball bearings instead of bushings. but that is a project for later.

next I want to make a router table extension and fence for the metal router table.
(another $5 treasure from a rummage sale)

Still under the thumb of the flu bug. That pullet that had been lingering was dead this morning. So 66% of that flock died since hatch in mid August. Did i tell you that? My mind is toast with this headache. Must be time for another pill.
I painted more wood today so perhaps i can start working on the next bunny cage. Supposed to get 2-3 days of rain.

Hope you feel better soon.....painting and a headache...hmmmm.
Probably not good to breathe paint fumes while fighting off a bug. ;)
Take good care.

I don't remember hearing about the dying birds...but I often CRS.

I already have used my table saw sled to make circle cuts. it takes only a few minutes. I can make a sled for the disc sander just as easily.
If I had a lathe, I could glue up a block and turn that out. but no lathe here.
so I could cut a bunch of 2 1/4" blocks rough cut them on the table saw and finish sanding them to 2" on the disc sander.
then I could glue them and stack them up to make a 4" cylinder.
inset sealed bearings in each end and voilla ..
the disc is perfect as is..

Cappy, hope you get over your flu bug real soon.
I had a good dose about a year ago. never want that again.

I was painting outdoors. I have a hard time keeping current on how many i have....My memory is shot from sleep apnea.

I keep trying to get things done but discover i am still too sick.
But i did attach the mesh to the bottom of the latest rabbit cage i am building. All that bending make me feel nauseous , however i need to do something every day. One more step in the process. Slowly getting better.
