You'd want about 100 square feet. Not impossible, not even conceptually difficult. A 10x10 would do it, but a 10x12 would be better. 8x16...

The Woods Coops seem popular https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/woods-style-house-in-the-winter.445004/

So I would be ok with a 10 x 12 pen with chicken wire and another wire on outside, and then have them a shelter with nesting boxes? I am in south Georgia so I don't have to worry about the winters, thankfully. My main problem was figuring out the amout of space and the keeping predators out, mostly dogs. Any other ideas, are greatly appreciated! I really the building you should me. I just think it may get a little to warm during out 3 digit days of summer.

Are you talking run space or coop space?

Build the run tall enough to walk in without ducking down. It make cleaning the run much easier.

X2

If you are talking about total space, NO.
how much room do you have ? fence in as much as you can.
keep in mind that the fence has to keep out critters.
I would make at least a 12 x 12 coop..
that way you won't have to rip the plywood .

when it is that hot, don't lock them up.. provide shade outside for that period..

cappy, I wish I knew about that stuff, too.
I am learning as I go. lots of u tube watching.
and google searching.

why would a coop for 25 chickens be impossible?
just build it bigger than you think you need.

one of my coops is 12ft x 16ft. two 16ft long roosts. 10 laying nests. it handled 40 hens.
You don't need than many nests. 3 or 4 will do.

I even have brooders built in above the nests.

make your feed storage near as you can to the feeders.. you will soon get weary of feeding if you have to lug feed from very far away..

I have plans for a 5 gallon feeder that I made.
they don't waste hardly any feed with it.
I cost me nothing for a 5 gallon pail, and only about $4.oo for the pan .
I also used this feeder for my puppies.

5 gallons is about 30 pounds of feed.

I suspended the roosts and nests from the wall. no legs sticking down to the floor anywhere.. makes cleaning a lot easier.

also makes catching chickens easier when it is necessary to do so..

make the people door wide enough to fit a wheelbarrow through.
I made the windows and roosts removable .
the window sills are about 2 feet above the floor, I can park my tractor bucket outside the windows and shovel the litter right into it ..

have electricity to it. at least for lights.
I can run 4 heat lamps if I need to.

Could you show us pictures, please!

I made 3 bunny hay feeders today, i bought the shelving from the restore for $1 each and used scrap wood. Going to paint the inside only since they will chew the outside. 20180321_164120.jpg

I will have to take pictures of the lathe and the parts I have torn apart..
give me until tomorrow, OK ?

I am finding out that parts are not available at any of the stores here in town.

some of them sell the lathes, but don't handle any accessories ..
Now is when I miss old Sears and Roebuck
You know you are old when you can miss them..
I can remember when Ritz crackers didn't come in tubes. and marshmallows came in small rectangular boxes ..
