Yes, exactly!!!

Is that roof flat, or is that just an optical illusion??
I imagine you'd need good strong roof capable of carrying snow loads in CO?

The storage area will be enclosed and the plan is to put double doors that swing out. With any luck we will get the roof on this eve and be ready for painting the floor over the week end.

Looking good! Yeah, its easy to make the mistake of not enough overhang. I worry about that with the barn we had built.

Roof has a slope to it drops about a foot from the front to the back witch is a ten foot span. My husband is obsessed with over building everything..... wants it to last 20 years or more lol
We have plenty of supports and I put lots of screws in so the roof is not going anywhere.

so the roof supports are set on 16 inch centers,2x4s
There is a 2x8 running just over the frame to the original building with another 2x8 out at 10 feet to support the overhang
Whew! next we will paint the floor and interior wall's before adding the siding

He and i think alike. My hubby always says everything i build is too heavy!
 
Yep, you build it nice, and then they sit on top of it.. LOL
I like to build for prosperity, too.
My daughter is always asking me to make shelves, etc for her. she always says it doesn't have to be nice.. guess what , she still hasn't got them. If I can't do it nice, I am not going to do it.

to build to last for twenty years is nothing. twenty years slips by fast.
and in twenty years you might want to build it over, (that's how you feel today)
you will feel differently in twenty years.

we lived in this house we built over 50 years ago. I just installed about our fifth water heater. believe me, I never want to do another one. I didn't feel that way 12 years ago, though..
a one hour job took all day. Glad Annie's younger brother was here to help. actually he did most of the physical labor. I was the technical adviser.. LOL
