I worked long and hard until I finally got the
spring teeth arranged how i wand them on the
cultivator
one 3/4" nut gave me fits for over an hour.
Liquid Wrench, Blaster, propane torch and a pipe wrench with a 6 foot bicept enhancer finally got it loose..
no mosquitoes today.

No, you just keep those skeeters. I will wait for a new batch..
Cappy, easy retrofit.
leave the door as it is hung.
add the new hinges , one on top, one on bottom.
then just cut the door in half.
everything will line up perfectly..
when you make the cut, angle the blade in the skill saw about 5 degrees. this will allow the top section to open before the bottom section can, but you won't have a problem with having two flat surfaces rubbing on each other..

Thanks, I had been thinking about adding new hinges, and maybe a new crosspiece on the inside just above where the cut will be. I'll mention the blade angle thing to DH who would be doing it.

Might work.

Probably, maybe more than that......what does inside of door look like?
I assume you mean this door @Celticdragonfly?

I know it will work, I saw it done on
This Old House to a nice entry door on a
house..

I just finished a couple of hours of lawn mowing.
second mowing for most of it, first time for some of it..
finally, there is a bud on the apple layer I have in a pot. I almost gave up hope. but I
kept watering it along with the grapes and mulberry. they are growing very nicely in their pots.. I will be planting them into their permanent locations in about a week or so.

Yep, it can be done, but....
Construction of door needs to be taken into consideration...why I asked to see other side.
this is not a solid residential entry door and it's gonna need some bolstering.

...and the 2 rows of nails could be a problem.
