Helpful hints for building coops

Cappy, when will it all end ??
Yesterday we filled another dumpster and half a tractor bucket with burnables.
put a lot of items into the now vacant chicken coop. Nothing is in there loose. all in buckets and sorted..
I did waaay too much walking. It was an Advil/Tylenol day/night.
I hurt only a little this morning. but it will all come back to me once I get started again.
I have four more items for craigs list. Not that it will have any positive results.

No end in sight, I am trying to catch up with the housing needs of my June chicken order. They are growing so fast!


I don't think I have a picture of the Mille Fleur D'uccles. Will have to take some.

taking a noon break . now when we get a little done in the garage, it really shows.
we emptied the apartment sized freezer. It had only a dozen chickens in it. Now we can sell it.
(or give it away )..
I hung up two 6 foot x 30 inch pieces of peg board. I rehung all of the antique saws on it.
they had to go somewhere anyway, so why not make it look nice, eh?
Time to grab some lunch and go back at it.
back is holding up pretty well today.

Sounds like you are making great progress on the garage Jim. You'll need a long hot soak in bath salts by the time you've finished.

Any chance of a photo of your arrangement of antique saw? Sounds like it's worth showing off!

The roof of the playhouse run is finished! And I got another side done, putting the skirt on. One side still needs a skirt , I need more 2' wide hardware cloth. Put a door on the tunnel so I can keep the chickens in the coop if I need to. Getting close to finishing . I have 2 other coops that need runs.

Cappy, you are not building a chicken run, you are building a chicken city!

I was going to take some pictures yesterday.
got a message, your camera is full to capacity.
WTH ? I just put a new picture card in.
Opened up the flapper, and no card. The flapper opens by itself when I carry the camera in my pocket. but the card is not in the pocket. must have fallen out after I pulled the camera out of the pocket.
I will keep an eye out for the card, but I am not going to spend time actually searching for it.
If cappy gets a half dozen more chickens, they will have to elect a mayor..

Tomorrow's the day.
Trying to curb the anxiety and sadness until afterwards...he can feel it, so staying 'cheerful' for his pleasure and ease but thinking logistics in my mind, like how to get his body into the grave without dropping it<cringe>. Think I have a good plan and will probably have some help from someone who is experienced in these matters.
I'll be 'glad' when it's over. Sigh.

Why do simple things take so long?
I went to take the AC out of the window... 15 min job right.... 45 minutes later I got it out.
Top window wouldn't stay up when I took the brace off, that keeps the bottom window from theives raising it... so I had to find a bracket with a hole in each side to screw in the frame. Then the bottom window wouldn't go up, had 3.5 inches of rain yesterday and it was swollen....of course AC was full of water, which spilled out when I turned it to get between the fridge and counter. Praise the Lord I didn't slip and fall.
Putting it in this summer I lost it and it ended up in the flower bed.

When my boss would say, "I know you're buried, but I have something I need right now and it'll only take 10 minutes", I knew that at least half my day was toast.

Just planted the kale, mustard greens and winter lettuce in the new raised bed. Still need to plant the garlic but DP took off with the car that I cleverly left the rest of the potting soil in.

Boots, look at the bright side. when your planting soil gets back, at least it will be dry.
the trouble with taking an AC unit out is that is when you really need something to cool you off.
I worked in the garage again. Will it never end ? I had one of those wasps buzzing around my head off and on. I went to sit down and placed my hand on the arm rest of the chair. Never saw that wasp sitting there. It stung me good, right in the palm of my hand. that was four hours ago. It still hurts like it just happened. I took a Benadryl. didn't seem to do a thing for the pain. but I did get a nap out of it..
You know, you can mount a window AC directly into the wall..Then just leave it there for ever..
