Helpful hints for building coops

I thought they hibernated in winter. Something about having a kind of anti-freeze in their blood stream...?

They do....but we've had weird weather, a couple of cold spells but mostly above freezing.

This weather has me concerned. Not that I mind warm temperatures, but the flora and fauna are going to be affected.

I got up at 3am. all done sleeping. showered, heated up day old coffee .
I am in the mood to make cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting. have to get cream cheese first.
today is starting out warm I might take Ollie and scrape some slush off of the ice in the driveway. clean up the parking area, too.

I bought some fresh yeast so no excuses, I will make some cinnamon rolls or maybe sticky buns. The candied pecans are all gone so time to make a trip to town and get more pecans.

We haven't been here long enough to know what's normal for here yet but day lilies trying to bloom in January can't be normal. We'll have to get the new soil delivery for the raised be sooner than we planned.

there is nothing normal about this winter.
I have 2 pounds of new instant dry yeast.
So far I am not impressed with it.
this batch of dough showed no sign of rising after 1 1/4 hours. I even warmed up all of the ingredients before hand.. warmed up the mixing bowl, too.
I just mixed up some of the active dry yeast and remixed the dough. we will see in about an hour if anything will happen..
No, my ingredients were not too hot..
plowing for today is called off. I am not in the mood.

I am longing to get my new fish tank set up, but my back hurts and we need to move the furniture around.
Weather is mid 50s and rainy.

well, the second dose of yeast and extra mixing did the trick..
the cinnamon rolls turned out great.
..might get a little sun today. even if it is cold out, the sun lifts my spirit..

Glad that worked.
