we went and got our first vaccination today. got the one that sounds like the wine,,, madira ..
second shot on April 5.
I got the second batch of wine bottled on Sunday. nine magnum bottles and a full gallon jug, (for immediate use)
I want to plant some kale. Never did before.. Anything I should know about it?

Idk, I never planted it myself. Glad you are progressing well, Jim!

Give it good soil and the right temperatures and the stuff grows like a weed.

I harvest the outer leaves as they get to the right size and leave the center to continue growing. Of course, like any garden green, it takes some washing to get the grit out -- especially the curly varieties.

My favorite way to cook it is to sautee it in olive oil and garlic then serve it with balsamic vinegar, Parmesan, and fresh-ground black pepper.

What 3KillerBs said. There are so many varieties!

I have found cabbage moths like it. Watch for white moths landing on it and laying eggs. Check the underside of the leaves. The eggs hatch into little green inch worm looking things which will grow and strip the leaves bare. When I found the caterpillars on mine, I'd pick those leaves and give them to the chickens. Greens and protein, all in one snack.
