I didn't know acorns were a dewormer.
3B's, I hope the storm doesn't pick up strength
after it goes out over the ocean again. Maybe you
will be lucky and it makes land fall to the north of you.
we have had a couple nights of frost. our growing
season is over. so far none of the farmers have started
cutting their corn fields or picking corn.
there are turkeys all over, even in town.
Annie hit a deer about a week ago. little damage to
the car. just pushed the grill in. her mechanic pulled
it back out and you can hardly tell it was damaged.

I'm way inland so I'm only expecting sustained winds of about 35mph with gusts up to 50-60.

Going to get a LOT of water though -- but I'm way up on a hill so I'm safe.

ONLY 50 mph winds ?

Gusts to that.

Not sustained winds. :)

You get gusts that bad in a strong thunderstorm at times.

This is as normal to central NC as heavy snowstorms are to you. Something to prepare for -- I'm stowing anything that might blow around the yard, taking down my electric poultry netting so it won't catch debris, planning to park vehicles out from under trees, and generally preparing to possibly be without power for anywhere from a few hours to a few days. But it's not likely to be serious here the way Florence was.

Summer and fall of 2020, the year we were living in a shed while our house was being built and placed, we had so many tropical storms I forgot how many there were. 🤣

Yes, acorns have tannin in them. If you want to make flour from acorns , you need to boil them to leach out the tannis, which are pretty bad tasting to people otherwise.

Some of my mugs, and a pumpkin that still needs glazing.
