good evening,
we had the phone company here for a couple of hours trying to help us stay online.
as it turned out, we got completely knockd offline. then after a couple of hours, and several phone conversations with bil. things turned around. I hope it stays like this from now on.
bil is retired from the phone company, but he still has lots of pull. when he calls repair service there is no way they can give him bogus reports on why things are not working; like they do to the common customers..
he got hold of dispatch and we had a guy here within an hour..

anyhow, your coop is coming along nicely.
you will really like when you give up the skylight idea.

I felt so good about getting the cement mixer back together, that i decided to celebrate and take the rest of the day off.

I did skip the hammer application, didn't I ?
I just assumed you all would do that without being told to.

getting lots of inquiries about the puppies.
I hope they all sell soon. nine weeks old and some of them are pushing 20 pounds.

we are keeping the little girl in the house.
she is so sweet. teaching her how to lead on a leash. we let her drag the leash around in the house so she gets used to it.
she will be going to Dubuque this Saturday.

Our coop is like 200 feet from the tap. I don't have that much hose. It will get tested eventually. Not in a hurry. So darned tired today i might just go shopping. Crazy hot already.
Ah, yeah that's a problem....too bad.
I just worry about the roof not being water tight before you finish off the inside,
Guess you could always throw a piece of metal roofing up there to completely cover and overlap the glass portion.....might be good to have that handy so you can use it fast.
Heat has dropped much here, such a relief, hang in there.

Yes, generally i use outdoor screws like you would for a deck and galvanized spiral nails when i want to use nails. Also when you drive in screws with a drill, use little bursts of speed rather than top speed all the way. It seems to produce less chattering and stipping of screws. Less frustrating , as well.
Thus the reason drills/screw guns have multi speed triggers! :)

I do have extra roofing on hand because i will be building more rabbit cages. But i am optimistic it will not leak any more. The floor is vinyl, so i am not going to worry about it. Today i went and bought supplies. So crazy, but the least expensive place i have found for hinges is Walmart. I really needed a break from being outside every day. I don't think i have spent a single day in a month without working on the coop. Just bone tired. It was good to be in the ac all day! I may go out for a little while after supper.

no internet here all day.
it is back, but iffy and slow.
I poured the first small section of concrete just to make sure everything will be set when I go after the big section.
it was calculated to take 6 -- 60 pound bags. ended up using 9 bags.
it turned out nice.
that slab weighs 540 pounds.
GS has off of work this weekend
he can help me, but the forecast is for rain.

Maybe you can cover it with a tarp if it rains after working.

the little piece I poured today is cured enough so rain won't hurt it. I even sprayed it down once with the hose.
the longer you keep it wet, the better it cures.. five days of wet is what they recommend. It will be in direct sunlight only for a couple of hours each day. so keeping it wet shouldn't be a problem.
