I had a cyclone fence around my walnut grove.
the grass grew in and through the bottom of it
and knit it to the ground.. this took a few years.

wouldn't it work to just lay the wire flat around the perimeter and let the grass/weeds/flowers grow up through it ?

not many animals are clever enough to go to the edge of the wire and tunnel in..

Four pounds is good, Keep milking that project..

we have sort of decided to bury a wire for the electric invisible dog fence. Annie said that I could take a shovel and trench it in.
THAT is not happening. the area I plan on doing is about 500 feet x 200 feet.
I will find a ditch witch somewhere..
or maybe put just one disc of the hiller on the tool bar and use the tractor.
or maybe use just one tooth of the spring tooth cultivator. It only has to be grass roots deep.

We rented a ditch witch to get power and water to the garage and work shop. $165 a day. That thing was amazing!

The ground is pretty much bare there, under the trees. I pulled out the poison ivy and virginia creeper. I am not sure if i will seed it with grass. It has not been raining and watering is a pain way down there. The exercise is good for me in moderation. I don't have to do it all at once.

the closest place we can rent one is 25 miles away. but that would be worth the drive and cost.
me bil who is retired from the phone company still has some pull there.
he said he might be able to "rent" one from them for a day or so..
I will even let him run it, since he has experience..

I watched the guy run it, it seems like hard work but easier by a mile than digging it yourself. I got a lot of rocks to add to the perimeter of the garden that way too.

here is the short wall on the table ready to get stood up.
I put planks on two horses and build at waist high.
the top of the wall is where the holes for the windows are. they will be stationary windows. mainly there for light in the back of the shed.
the wall that is standing is 12 feet long.

Mine is just flat/covered with dirt/visible in some spots (next to the gate, around the gateposts, where I had to cut it to make it "turn the corner". It will "bury itself" with soil movement/leaves etc and if you let your girls out (I do), they'll bury it by kicking dirt over the top.

You've put so much time and effort into this, it's gonna be like the taj mahal. A real labour of love.

My young chickens are too little to let out. Considering letting the guineas out, they are getting noisy. At least until it freezes there should be lots of bugs for them to eat. The leaves are falling like crazy! I am looking forward to finishing up this coop build for sure. Husband made a work table so it should be easier cutting the wood.
