good morning,
been up since 4AM was awake before that,

this thread is at it again, I am not getting notified when you post. will re-apply again.

I checked at Menard's for ridge cap for the ribbed roof. wowsie !! it comes in 10 ft lengths. I need 11 feet. $36.oo for one piece.
and then another $ 36.oo for the extra 18 inches.

I have a roll of aluminum coil trim stock around here somewhere. I will make my own cap. It might not last as long as the steel one, but hey, I am 75, it will outlast me.. after that I don't care anymore..

I have a rope through a pulley for my pop door. just a 1/4" nylon rope. it has lasted well over 7 years and still going.

rain for today and tomorrow. monday and tuesday are supposed to be sunny and warm.
If this is global warming, I am all for it..

I wonder if I can take my gallon of paint back to the store and have them shake it up for me
it has been in my basement for years.

@aart , have you got an estimate on cost for that high hoop coop for guineas that you built?
I did not build that, I just helped her figure out how to build it. She was asked for a cost and didn't have it. Bunch of details buried in a quote here....and looking thru the thread, pics and text, you could probably work up a material list and then shop your local costs.

Might depend on the store, but wouldn't hurt to try....maybe call first?...then again might be harder to turn you down if you take it in and look them in the eye. :D

Got pop door rope and pulley replaced.... easy peasey. CHECK!

Thought of another tip to share whilst doing this job,
any place there is a screw head exposed to chicken poop,
roost in thsi case but my ramps too
stuff screw socket with beeswax,
will easily accept driver bit without having to scrape poop out of it.

Was in and out of coop a dozen times this morning,
as soon as I sat back down upstairs, had a visitor.
Foiled by the run!

Hello all, my head is full of thoughts about a guinea hoop coop. @aart , do you have a finished picture of that one you helped someone with? Trying to give husband an idea of what the results will look like.
Still not completely well , but i can't stand sitting around in the house doing nothing. Husband and i went out and looked at possible sites for the new build. Looking at places husband has one of his mule tracks so i can more easily haul stuff there. Found a few possible places, but there are an awful lot of dead pine trees down. I need a team of mules!
The stuff i bought for the build so far is all piled near the chicken yard. Need to blaze a trail into the woods.

I bought the paint at Menard's. I called the paint dept and she said to just bring it in.
so I did. and she did and even gave me two stir sticks. (aka shims).

I think I will set up in the basement for painting.
it is so humid outside. and cold. not too cold for the paint, too cold for the painter..

making arrangements to sell one of the two remaining puppies. he is as good as sold, but we have to get him to southern Iowa. working on that.. might have someone going that way..

I just found this post, I forgot to send it.
I put the sill on the saw horsed outside and painted it.
the paint is what I used in the bathroom a few years ago.
it is waterproof and covers with just one coat.
it is not waterbase paint. I tried to wash the brush with lots of soap and water. that was a big mistake. I ended up with painted hands and the brush is still full of paint.
I put the brush into a plastic bag and into the freezer. then I spent a half hour scraping paint off of my hands. of course, I could not find any turpentine around here..
anyhow the sill is in place waiting for some screws.. tomorrow..
I have two used sashes that I have to trim a little off of the bottom to fit the opening.
then i can make the rest of the frame pieces and get them painted..

Tomorrow maybe i will work on making a trail from where the goat shed will be to where the hoop coop will be. And we will have a bonfire or 2 i am sure .See, here i am repeating myself!
