yeppers,, snow .. it never got above 38F yesterday.
and then it gets cold at night.

I nearly fell off the ladder twice.

When I read this^^^...I was worried that you'd both end up groaning on the couch, glad you didn't tumble!

But poor hubby is pretty beat up with those busted ribs.

We really didn't 'get snow'....just saw some flakes amongst the drops of rain.
Stayed relatively warm(~40) all day...but damp chill made me stay inside most the day.
More of the same for a few more days yet.

Brr! I have not seen snow in years, but i saw plenty up north so not looking forward to it. My grandkids have never seen snow so DIL plans to bring them up when it does. Scares me because their van is not equipped for winter weather and they don't know how to drive in it, being Floridians.

I lived in FLA for about 8 months, we used to laugh at them trying to drive in heavy rain they just didn't know 'slippery' like a northerner does....my daughter now lives near asheville and has the same experience.
Hope you don't live in the mountains.

No, we have some good sized hills but there are mountains around. We live near Gretna VA. Right on the Pigg River. It gets dark earlier here because there is a steep ridge to the West of us , on the other side of the river.
Today it is getting cooler instead of warmer as the day progresses. A good day to stay indoors.
Ps, i have a 4x4 truck so with our northern driving experience, we should be ok. Getting prepped here since we moved in.

I just came indoors. it is 23F outside. the shop has a stove but I didn't light a fire. by the time it makes it warm in there, I am usually done with my small projects.
I made sill #2 this morning. two more to go. I have to select another oak board off of the lumber pile. I hope I get a better one this time.

I lived in Colo. Springs one winter.
it snowed about an inch. I walked about ten blocks to the AF Base . I actually watched two accidents at intersections when people just went sliding through.
by 8 AM that morning , You could not get any emergency response. they were back logged for hours..

when it gets slippery for the first time each year around here, most of the cars in the ditches are young kids who never drove on ice and snow.. Once, In a one mile stretch, I counted 8 in the ditch. all girls going to work I assumed at Wausau Insurance..

somewhere in the past pages, someone wrote that they would never attempt another slanted roofed coop.
an easy way to do a shed roof is to build three walls all the same height. usually two sides and the back ones.
then build the fourth wall taller than the rest. this one has the people door in it.
then just span from the tall front wall to the rear wall with rafters . If it is necessary, you can fill the openings above the two side walls with short studs to attach the siding to.
I never use anything less than 2x6's for roof rafters..
