I heard that if you make the quail cage too high, they attempt to fly and hurt themselves .. IDK..

You are making a regular farmer out of your hubby..

I do all my own fixit projects when I can.
I don't do much with the cars anymore.
I just don't like to. and besides, with my bad eyes, ti is too hard to see what I should be doing..

I even shy away from driving when ever I can.

I did stop by the workshop for a little while and work on the quail egg catcher, so that is done except attaching the hinges. Tomorrow i hope to attach the wire, make doors and the upstairs sand box.

what's a quail egg catcher ?
Well if you put the cage on a slant, the eggs roll to the front. So i made a gap at the bottom of the front big enough for the eggs to roll out. Then i built a tray to catch them and a cover to fit over it so critters don't eat them. I am going to line it with foam insulation so the egg doesn't break. Then i can collect eggs without opening the cage.

that's kind of what I thought it was.
so, you are not going to have any bedding ?
just a wire floor?
It sounds like a good plan.
when I had quail, as I said before, I knew nothing about them, I made a nest box for them,, it was never used. they laid their eggs wherever they had the urge to lay an egg.. I wonder how that works in the wild?
They must make a nest sometime, don't ya think ??

Yep, just a wire floor except their sand box upstairs.
These birds have been domesticated so long they do not nest. I like Coturnix because they are so tame. I guess Bob whites will nest.

that's the kind I had. little egg laying machines.
and such a large egg for the size of the bird..

I liked hatching those eggs. the babies come out at a dead run..

Annie took my truck to work last night.
this morning she called. It won't start.
I gave her all the advice I could, until I finally
borrowed Kalib's car and drove the 25 miles to where she was. I jl;umped into the truck, turned the key and it started..
we took it straight to Batteries Plus. they checked it out. told me to take it home and charge it over night. the battery showed a full charge. I asked the guy to take the terminals loose and clean them. He seemed reluctant, but did it..
have had no problems since..
I put the charger on when I got home. It showed almost a full charge..

I thought for once we would get through a whole winter without any car troubles.
RONNNG !!!

I think i am about half done with the quail coop. One side left to tack on the wire, part of the front as well. The back is mostly done, but need a little piece of plywood. And i have not put on the top yet because i have not decided what to use. Plus the sand box for the second level, and the ramp needs done. But happy with progress so far.
And i finished this sign....
