View attachment 1412485 View attachment 1412486 Take your time, plan it out and try to enjoy the experience. Here’s my first coop build, raised coop with run. My first chicks are 2 weeks old. They had their first experience outside in the run and loved it
Welcome to BYC, glad you stopped by and visited us! Thanks for sharing the photos. Your birds look happy and healthy! Good job.

Today i finished the twin quail brooder. Pictures tomorrow, it was too dark once i set it all up. But one side now has quail in it. So the brooder in the bathroom has space for chicks and guineas. That hatched yesterday and today.
Tomorrow i plan to finish the rabbit cage , and install the ramp i made for the quail cage. I put a dust bath loft in the third cage, but they need a ramp to get up there. And i built a little nest box for the bigger quail cage to see if they will use it. Mostly they lay anywhere. A nest would be a better place for it, IMO.

Progress is being made, slowly, on my coop. I've finished clearing the area, marked out where my posts are to go. Today I went and purchased the cement mix to stick the posts in with.

I stopped by a plant nursery too. That was dangerous. So many trees and shrubs I wanted to buy.
Brought 22 home with me :gigMostly plants native to my country, which I'm happy about. Slowly turning my treeless property into a leafy oasis.

I find it dangerous even to go to Walmart, i always have to look at the plants. I already have a lot waiting to be planted.
Today i am going to make a turkey brooder out of a big storage bin i have no top for. Two turkeys hatched already!

What is the deep litter method?
BeeKissed Made a utube on it
Deep litter is cultivated, managed and encouraged to decompose in place so that the manure binds with carbonaceous materials. There should be no smell, no flies, no ammonia fumes(not if the ventilation is right) and it shouldn't be wet and moldy.

My country has a similar store called The Warehouse. I'm constantly trawling through the garden section there looking for special something's to bring home. I have a lot of houseplants :gig

Three posts in :yesss: so getting there.
Planted most of the trees and shrubs I bought yesterday.

Today I picked up more supplies for my coop. Several large bags of leaves. I'm planning on doing DL so I'm collecting materials to put in and I couldn't pass up a pile of leaves I discovered. My hubby, son and I raked and bagged leaves and barely made a dent in the pile. Think we got 7 sacks full.
:woot
Love free stuff.

Free stuff rocks! I find quite a bit of free stuff on Craigslist. Or i get cheap stuff at Goodwill and repurpose it.
I got my turkey brooder made today out of a big storage bin with no top i bought cheap at Goodwill. Pictures tomorrow. I still need to make the cage for the heat lamp.
