the rain finally moved out about noon today.

yesterday I made an appt. to go look at a Dixon zero turn lawn mower.
we arrived a few minutes before the 2PM time we were supposed to meet.
seemed like nobody was home. after ringing the door bell a couple of times, we called on the phone. the guy answered,
"Oh , I sold it already" well thanks for letting us drive 20 miles for nothing..
Annie called Homdepoe. I didn't know she did. She told me that they have Cub Cadet mowers and lawn tractor/mowers.
She said, why don't we just go and get one and not have to deal with people like that guy.. Well, twist MY arm.. I was in the car in an instant..
I didn't care much for their zero turn machines. the mower deck is way back almost under the seat. No good for mowing under low hanging branches of the pine trees.
so we bought a 42" tractor/mower.
18HP. more than enough mower for this place. I mow just under 3 acres , but not all of it all the time. but with this mower I will go over it all at least once to control the weeds.
the people who bought an incubator from me called. it quit heating just 2 days before lockdown. I told them to come and get mine and transfer the eggs into it..
I hope it works out for them..

Don't people drive you nuts? I drove an hour to get a cat once and the people had actually moved and decided to keep the cat but never called to let me know!
I hope you get your bator back.
Nice on getting the mower!

By the way, i love my 6 gallon pancake compressor. Much more powerful than the other one, and quieter.
Today i raked the building site to remove debris. And painted the edges of the plywood, which is good because later in the day it rained. Too darned hot to do much more. I did take two boards to the workshop and cut them to 8 feet and painted them. I am going to need more lumber for sure. I have been sketching plans for the coop and run.

good morning,
I am sitting on pins and needles waiting for my new lawn mower to show up..
going to actually clear a space for it in the garage. gotta treat it nicely because it is new
I know the people who have the incubators. Jordan has been dealing with me since he was 12 years old. he is out of high school and going to the tech, now.
a smart hard working young man..

Hi, the lawn mower got here before 9:30AM
They did bring in on a flat bed semi. Unloaded it on the road and carried it to the house with a fork lift.
I put gas in it, checked the oil and turned the key.. nothing.. then read the directions.
"hook up the battery " after that all was good. mowed up about a gallon of gas. did the worse part of the lawn. went over it first with high setting, then a second time on a shorter setting. chewed up a couple of fallen branches. nothing too large..all went well.
so far I am well pleased.

Reading the directions often helps troubleshoot little issues like that.

The weather here is miserable. Cold, wet and windy. Gotta love winter :tongue

I let my chickens out of their little prison for a peck and a scratch. Probably wasn't the best idea. It took me almost half an hour to convince them to go back inside the coop.
Their regular food, they didn't want to know. I clucked, booked and called them, rattled the food bowl like I always do when I feed them.

Nope, they wanted the grass and bugs.

So, I picked handfuls of grass, plantain, dandelions and other weeds, tossing them into the coop. Topped it with a few big juicy snails.
They finally went back in. :yesss:

I really badly need to finish their coop. They'll think its christmas!

Moving day, taking the grow out pen down near the new build site.

my main function at the co-op where I work is to sell and service Cub Cadet. It always thrills my customers when I can deliver their new mower, uncrated, put together and full of gas ready to mow! But we are a little more old fashioned than home depot..... part of the reason I love my job, taking care of customers and having the ability to go above and beyond.

I guess I will be reading some more. the cub is supposed to mow in reverse. but when I try to back up, it shuts itself off..
right at this minute I won't be mowing in any direction. the last thing I did , just before dark, was to slide into a wet dead furrow along the corn field.
I will take the loader down there and lift it out..
otherwise I am pleased with how it is cutting my lawn/hay ..
last night I could smell the hay wafting in through the window.. love that smell..
