I built the last panel for the 2nd run tonight and tacked all the welded wire fencing on. Also put on the first nesting box. I started tacking the fencing on the roof of the second run. But it got dark, so i gave up and went inside.

the old time cowboys always said, don't work for a rancher who has electricity or you will work all night , too..

I had a couple of jobs where I worked the night shift. I liked it.. all the head honchos went home at 5 and nobody to bother us then..
today I picked up a couple of brush piles. mowed the grass under where they were.
then I mowed around the elderberry roots where the village idiot mowed them down.
they are growing back !! about a hundred shoots from 12 to 16 inches tall.. I am going to cut some roots off from around the edges and transplant them farther back from the road. I have to figure out exactly where I want them to be..
I decided to yank out the odd plum tree.
it is growing bent way over. I staked it a couple of times, but it persists.. I will wait until it goes dormant, I want to take hardwood cuttings from it, first..

The coop is coming along. Got 3 nest boxes in place and 2 shutters, though the picture only shows one. Last panel for run #2 is in place, but i need to work on the top.

Hi, I hope nobody floated away..
today I took the tractor and made two rows at the ends of the grape rows, perpendicular to the grapes..
I will plant elderberry plants in those two rows.
they will form the east and west boundaries of the mini park.. the grapes are on the north boundary..

I am still on solid ground. Got a bit of rain now, and had some earlier. I never did get to work on the coop today. Mostly making sure the critters were taken care of.
I did get a second coat of paint on the last nest box. Also cut the frame for the last shutter for the coop, and painted that. I measured for shutters for the quail cages, and got two pieces of plywood cut and painted. So progress is happening, just not at the job site.

I hope the rain stays reasonable..
I am not getting much done around here.
today I am going to try to start up the rototiller for the first time this summer.
I usually have to drain the gas out of the carburator to get the condensed water out..
