If you want to take the time and have the patience, hang the woven wire on insulators and hot wire it.. that would make it more effective from both sides of the fence..
i read once where someone ran two wires along the top of the fence. one hot, one grounded. most chickens fly up and land on the fence before continuing their escape. with the two wires, they would get zapped.
however, I question if a chicken would put two and two together and figure it out and quit flying out..
I had 100 chickens in a 4ft high cyclone fence. they would roost on the fence at night. in the morning, they would fly down in the direction that they were facing when they woke up.. I had the fence there to deter predators, so it didn't matter to me which way the chickens went..
