RIP Domino.

Not sure just what happened, but heard an odd flapping and she was dead in the run with Willie and a hen pecking at her. This was early this morning after I let them for their scratch and as I was cleaning the coop.
Might have been a skirmish and she bolted into fence and broke her neck or had a heart attack or maybe a mating mishap.
She was the sweetest and my favorite for her mellowness and beauty...and one of the few still laying. Damnit.. SMH

Oh no, terrible! Always sad when they go suddenly and unexpectedly.

So sorry to hear this Aart. Sending sympathy and hugs your way...:hugs

Losing that chicken ticked me off... because of the way she died,
and I will grieve her a bit because she was so sweet,
but that pales in comparison to losing my best dog 12 years ago,
or my son 7 year ago(that's a real horror story).
July 3rd not a good day with all those death associations,
but the older you get the more they stack up.
Anyway, here's to Mags(Gorgeous the Magnificent),
it was appropriate that she died on the 3rd, she hated fireworks.

Oh, so very sorry to hear about your son. We expect our animals to go before us but not our kids....:(

It's always hard losing a dog, especially those "special" ones that are just...perfect.
My 3 Puppers are all over 11 years old now and starting to show their age. One of them is "my" dog. Follows me everywhere and sits under the desk at my feet when I'm on the computer. I try not to think about how old she's getting...:hit
Your Mags looks like she was a lovely girl. Working breeds are always communicating with you and keen to be with you.

Here are my three girls, from the left Tarot, Lily and Stella. Tarot is the one under my feet right now... snoring... :)

Our house is now officially on the market. Just listed last night and we've had 4 realtors ask for tours so far just today. I feel sorry for our poor cats and dogs. So many strangers wandering around and we can't be there to comfort them. Can't go home tonight till 7 or so. And there's an open house on Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully this means a fast sale with a bidding war to push the price higher.

Best news is our realtor says we don't have to hang around waiting for closing, so we'll be bugging out to the new place probably within a few weeks.

good day after the 4th.
we stayed home. watched the Boston Pops
on TV. after 5 minutes of constant fireworks, I got kind of bored.
back when, they used to shoot off one at a time. then there was anticipation for the next one.
I am cutting oak boards and building an AC frame to fit around a bedroom window. I have two done from last year. this is the last one .. when I am finished , it will be permanent. the window unit can stay in place for the winter. we just unplug the AC and shut the window.
my invention..
