Helpful hints for building coops

Cappy, if you get too many more buildings there, You are going to have to elect a mayor.
I got the cement mixer out of the lean to.
beat on the shaft and pulled on the cooling fan and freed up the motor. then I oiled it with gear and sprocket oil. I hope that works.
I hope I don't have to take the motor apart sometime in the future..

Today I put up the last 2 pieces of hardware cloth, and cut boards to fill the missing spaces on the exterior of the coop. Then I put a coat of stain on them. Also went and cut down a small tree to make perches out of for that coop. Closing in on finishing! I do plan to frame the window openings to make it look better.

Hubby made it home from Canada! He didn't sleep even though he got a hotel room. So he surprised me and got back early.

I got the boards put on the rehab coop today. Next comes the roosts being cut and installed.

I can't believe it. another perfect morning.
I got out early and put the cement mixer frame all back together. Now I just have to get the drum out of the lean to and mount that to the frame.
when I ordered the weed whacker it said I would receive it Aug 2nd to the 6th. today the tracking option said it has been shipped and I should expect it on the 8th..
Oh well...

Art, I have metal window wells. this spring water flowed into one of them and flooded our basement.
I am going to leave the metal wells in place, but pour concrete all around the outside of them. I will make the concrete pitch away from the top edge of the metal well's top edge.
then I am going to increase the pitch of the ground away from the foundation more than it currently is. bury some plastic to help drain water away rather than have it drain down alongside the foundation .. I have to do this only on the west end of the house as there is no water problems on the rest of the other 3 sides..

No covers, but I was thinking I will make covers for the new ones.
when I had hens, they used to lay eggs in the window wells.
The skies are getting dark here. looks like scattered showers on the way..

I was off to the swap today. Sold a lot of critters, but used up a lot of energy.
