One of my June chickens dropped dead for no apparent reason the other day. Made me sad, she never even laid an egg. No marks on her anywhere. One of my Gold laced polish pullets. I was wondering if she got pecked on the head or something. She was still warm when I found her. :hit

So sorry to hear that Cap. It's always a shock when it's unexpected :(:hugs

Beautiful sunny morning but cold for here, dipped down to freezing again last night and still no rain in the forecast for another week. I'll be scrounging roof drip water for the raised bed.

Got a load of chips yesterday from a local tree trimmer so between that and the pile of old wood waiting for someone to remove the nails from (where are the nail-fairies when you need them) I might be forced to get something useful done today.

Closing on the house is set back another week due to buyer paperwork issue. Trying not to let it freak us out too much. New date is November the 8th. Please keep your fingers crossed for us.

got some kinda snow...mixed with rain, last night.
Shoulda took down that shade cloth.
Bowing the run roof, but don't think it will hurt it.

cold here today. I didn't do much outside.
I did go to F&F and bought a box of shop towels, a gallon of WD40 (half price) , a can of WD40 rust remover, and
a can of regular WD40. Now I am all set for anything that sticks..
Boots, If you are not going to do finish carpentry with the naily boards. just use a side grinder with a thin steel cutting wheel and cut the nails off and leave the head and short piece of nail in the board. Lots faster and easier than pulling nails.
I had a pile of cedar siding that had tons of nails down the edges. I just ran them through the table saw and cut a half inch off of each edge. left me with a slightly narrower board, but no nail holes.
I ran the tractor this morning, 1st gear and reverse were OK, but 2nd and 5th gears were frozen.

Will any of that un-sticking stuff fix that? ;)

How I wish,, but no..
I am going to drain the transmission oil out, then let it freeze. after it freezes, the oil will stay liquid, but the water will freeze in the bottom of the container.
then I will pour the oil off and hopefully no water will come with it.

Rain Chimes 'discovered' several weeks ago with an outside dog bowl dumped of skeeter larvae, it inadvertently ended up under the drip line and took me days to figure out what the pinging noise was. Once I figured it out I grabbed 3 more bowls from the kitchen to add to the song. Yesterday I added Rascals inside bowl to the mix.

oxymoron : Happy Halloween
25F here today. going to stay not much warmer than that for the next few days.
I think I still have the bee's stinger in my hand.
I know , wasps do not leave their stinger in after stinging you. but I really pressed down on this wasp. I can see a tiny black dot and if I press on it, I get another dose of pain..
