Wind baffle, the prevailing wind hits this side of the coop. Cold in winter.

So we put a birdhouse at the top of a 12 foot 4x4 post the other day. We pondered the likelihood of one of the cats climbing it:

BK gave us the answer.

There's fencing around the base of the post now.

Oh Oh, someone is going to name their fish..
Oh no, don't give DP any ideas. She'll name anything. Going to be hard enough with any of the chicks that turn out to be roos. Though, times being what they are, I might try to talk the city counsel into it being a necessity for survival.

you have to tell your cat that he has to wait for the birds to come before climbing back up there.
I took 12 six inch screws back to Menard's. They were star drive. I don't have a #30 driver.
then I went to get the hex head screws. they were out. seems somebody bought the whole box of 50 a couple of weeks ago.. Hmmm could that have been me ??
anyhow, I rebought 12 other star drives and a pack of 5 #30 driver bits.
they drive OK..

I couldn't believe that Rural King had no hardware cloth except 2 feet wide and 5 feet long for $10! Had to go buy it at Lowes and got 25 feet cheaper than what RK sells it for. I bought garden fence to put on top of the run at RK. Not a single chick in stock there or TSC. Luckily I have my own hatching!

Or, maybe the chickens are having eggs delivered to save their freeloading necks ??
Dan was here yesterday. with my supervision he got a lot done on the roof. I will take progress pictures today.
waiting for the last four pieces of steel roofing to arrive at Menard's. In the meantime I can work on the greenhouse part..
I forgot to bring in the young plants on Sunday night. They all froze. will be buying more tomato and pepper plants today.
Boots, I still have all 5 of the new #30 bits..

Mower deck, cleaned, repaired, installed, and operational.
Harder every year to crawl around on the ground to get it hooked up.
Walking mower running too, and front mostly mowed.
I always worry that one or both going to reach their ends every time I use them.
Huge relief they are both running and that I can get the longest 'grass' cut before big storm happens tonight.

I have a Cub Cadet rider that I bought a couple of years ago because I figured that my Husqvarna zero turn wasn't going to last too much longer. they are both running yet, however I didn't use the zero turn last year at all. I like to use it where the cutting is "rough", small branches on the ground ,,etc. The motor is still in great shape, but it is like a Chevy, it sort of falls apart even though it is not being used..
Husqvarna repair parts are very expensive.
