Gray, I am envious of your coop and run. Especially that door. I've seen feeders like your oyster shell supply thing. Always was worried feed would sour but that looks ideal for oyster shell.
Thank you very much, it’s definitely taken us a while to figure out what works best. We currently have about 30 hens. We fill the feeder and they usually empty it in 2 days or so.
The new coop will be divided in half and most likely have 2 mini coops as well. I want to breed Coronation Lavender Sussex and Black Copper Marans. Right now I just have a bunch of mixed breeds because we let them free range.

Had to look up the CLS and those are lovely birds. We have a couple of speckled sussex pullets and I love their personalities.

poison ?? what for ?
we both know what is bothering your neighbors. Ignore them.
but it is too bad they can't be friendly, or at least, aloof ..

I have some wonderful black raspberries. they have thorns that even a camel couldn't eat. in comparison, they make blackberries feel like a gentle massage ..
maybe I can send you a few roots ..???

We do ignore them, which kind of makes me sad because when we first moved in here they were friendly, we were friendly...they'd invite us over to sit in the back yard and have a drink or a toke with them. I thought, gee this is great, neighbors we can be friendly with! But when the chicken run/coop construction began the relationship soured, even though I assured them there'd be no smell...which there isn't. Shoot, the chicks aren't even big enough yet to do a decent sized poop and Boots is out there every day with a rake and PDZ . And the coop is much closer to Boots' bedroom window than it is to their property.
As for the raspberries, wow...they sound great. Sadly, I'm still a hippy at heart and believe in karma so I couldn't do it, much as I'd love to. How do the fruit taste though? I have raspberry plants for the first time ever...I'm a neophyte at raspberries but I hope to produce enough to eat! Never heard of black raspberries.

I'm in the process of building a coop. I am planning to put 1 large vent, and 1 smaller vent on opposite facing walls. Any helpful tips or advice to make it better. Our idea is to include a hinge door on the front.
Be sure to put in at least one window.

Yes, waste can build up ammonia which can be bad for us and the birds. It does not pay to seal up every crack and crevice as long as predators can not reach in to grab your birds. I plan to have a vent high on two walls, plus two windows, and a walk in door and pop holes for the chickens.
Be sure to put in at least one window.
for them to get in and out of, correct?

Just make sure they are off set so you don’t just make it into a wind tunnel. Some natural light from a window would be very beneficial too. I personally wouldn’t do the vents on opposite facing walls in such a small coop. I’d make a vent on the long wall and one on the shorter side. I would also make them adjustable for cooler/hotter temps. Adjustable can be as easy as a notched piece of wood to prop the vent cover open. We just cut a piece of our wall out and hinged it so in summer I can open it all the way and hook a fan up in it to circulate air.
