the noise DW heard was a window AC unit going on and off. Easy fix.

Way better than a well pump issue!!
I get the 'auditory anxieties' once in awhile...sometimes stuff just sounds different.

I don't plan on doing too much outside today. we are supposed to get into the high 90F;s.

That's on it's way here, tomorrows heat index will be 98.
Today will be pretty hot too.
Next week looks better.

Your're right about that, Aart. In order to get at the well casing I would have to remove a huge patch of thorny black raspberries.. they are so thick we can't see the well casing.

My goats love those plants. But I always get thorns in me when I cut them.

I keep my well pipe accessible with the weed whacker....
.....hoping that will keep me from every having to need to.

My brother black raspberries, but they do not have the 3/4" long thorns like mine do.
Mine just showed up a couple of years ago.
Probably planted by wild birds..
I would like to move the whole patch to the other side of the driveway and way out to the ditch along the road. some day..
this year my black berries did not blossom.

I am hiding in the house. too hot to be outside . It was nice out there early this morning. I got another row of tomatoes staked and pruned. then I topped off all the reservoirs. by that time the sun was higher in the sky and the flies woke up. .
today would be a good watermelon eating day. we have several different kinds of fruit, but no melons. I guess peaches and black cherries will have to do..
