Now that the Ideal Dozen are 12 weeks old I absolutely HAD TO make another, even larger waterer. They were running out daily and it's been fairly hot even by central NC standards.

Instead of buying me the 11/16th bit I wanted for my horizontal nipples, DH bought a set of step bits on the principle that they'd be versatile. I have to say that I didn't care for it. I made each hole in little bursts, terrified that I'd ruin the entire bucket by driving it one step too far.

But now I have a new, 6-nipple waterer that holds as much water as I can possibly carry by myself. That makes for a total of 3 feeders set too far apart to be guarded and 4 waterers 2 of which are out of sight of the others.

We have that same one and find that it only works on perfectly level ground -- it doesn't run well over grass at all
Thanks for the heads up on that. I don't have anywhere that's flat except my driveway. And only part of that. :gig

I'm sure I can find something a little more efficient than a 3" piece of hematite. :)

I have been very busy cleaning coops and brooders, and washing chickens. Have not had time to work on the love shack.
Decided to sell off at least half of my chickens. It's just too much work and I am not enjoying it any more.

I can understand that. Every winter I say I'm going to cut back. Owls have been helping with that.

It is nice when neighbors get along. We don't have any close neighbors.
I am pretty sure this doe had triplets. They are all the same size, if that makes any difference.. They are camping behind the garage near the big blackberry patch.
If I had to build a deer fence, I would quit the gardening. No crop I grow is worth that much expense.
Raccoons don't bother us since we had the dogs. I expect they will return eventually once they realize the dogs are gone.
DD's boyfriend came this morning and fixed the leaky water line to the bathroom sink. took out copper, put in pec .
....
