You need to bake them to make bricks, lol. It helps break up the clumps of clay to work it in.are you adding sand to clay ? isn't that how they make bricks ?

When I lived in Pine City , Minn, I borrowed a
tractor and tried to plow up a garden plot.
It was clay and wet. all I could do was spin the tires.
finally got stuck. figured I would leave it there until
the ground dried up some. when it dried,
the tractor was trapped in hard clay. I worked
a half of a day getting it out.
We had a place like that. Took me years to amend the soil for a garden.In dry weather my ground can only be dug with a pick.
