I usually get feed weekly, just whatever i need i pick up on the way to Danville.
Went to the Farmville swap today, sold one goat and traded 3 roosters for 3 pullets. The pullets will be easier to sell than roosters.
One of the goats i took to the swap was acting weird, so i told someone that wanted her that she was sold. I gave her goat electrolytes and vitamin e with selenium, i picked up on the way home. After i thought more about it i also gave her an injection of B vitamins. Hoping she will perk up overnight.

I bought my first goat from a neighbor across the road.
I kept her there until I could build a pen. His wife kept feeding
the goat weeds and table scraps. although I begged her not to.
the milk was undrinkable. I wasted no time in getting a pen made.
once the word got out, I became a magnet for free goats.
I had as many as 22 for awhile..
I finally whittled it down to 3. I came home from work one
day to find that my wife gave them away.. I was surprised,
but not too unhappy about it.. lol

I wish i could give my cats away. I have two, mother and son. They fight, they throw everything on the floor. They puke a lot. Of course, i hate the litter box thing. If that was the only issue, i could deal with it. But, every surface is full of cat hair. Ugh.
The little goat i decided has Leptospirosis. She started walking in circles, drooling, standing with her head against the wall. Not eating. I can't spend a fortune on vet care for one goat. So i researched the problem and started treating her with Penicillin. Giving her bottles of goat electrolytes or whole milk with added cream. It is contagious, so i don't want her with the other goats. I have been so busy feeding and treating her, doing hubby's chores while he was on vacation , and doing my own chores.
I am keeping her in an empty chicken coop that is separate from the other areas. It's well shaded, and has a window on all 4 sides so it stays cool in hot weather.
Happy to report that she is showing steady improvement. I think i was lucky to figure out what her problem is and start treating it fairly early on. She can actually walk straight to me now. Not fighting being held, and drinking well from her bottles. Hardly drooling at all. It is hard for the antibiotic to get into the brain where it is needed. So i started giving it to her 4x a day and increased the dose. I read up a lot on treating this disease. Wish i could get some banamine for her. She does grind her teeth at times, so i think she is uncomfortable. Can't give her asprin and risk Reyes Syndrome.

poor girl
where did she get it from?

we finally had a little rain after 11 days without. it filled
the rain barrel half full.
so far I have not had to water the planter with the three
tomato plants in it with house water. I am depending on
rain and what I collect in the two rain barrels. the tomatoes
are thriving,,,,so far..
our deer are back. four of them. no fawns, though.
they are cleaning up the fallen green apples.
eating comfry and nibbling at the grape vines..

Consumer Cellular. I'm a customer and have gotten phones from them for ten years.
I see ads for them on TV all the time. Is it the deal they say it is?

We have Verizon. We switched to AT&T for a couple years, then switched back. We have 30 gig high speed, then it switches to a crawl. 2 phones, plus 2 jet packs for internet. $188/month. We run out of high speed data just about every month; I use my phone's hot spot at times though I don't do internet on it, but DH uses his phone for facebook, etc.

IF we could be sure that we'd get a good enough signal (even Verizon can be spotty out here), I would LOVE to switch to something better priced.
