Helpful people I just encountered with quail chick watering

Quote:
I never thought about using one of them but I think it should work.

I am planning on using a float valve but it a contained system. I might draw a picture & post it.

Im using a float valve in a 5 gallon bucket. I guess depending on how much they drink a day would depend on how "fresh" the water is or you could use a 3 gallon bucket. I spent months trying figure out all this stuff myself before I ever found this website. I bought everything from float systems for toliets to cup watering systems (expensive and never used). Did all that and ended up with the system I have pics posted of that cost
$8.00 Used Bellmatic type waterer from a chicken house
$9.00 Little Giant Stock tank float valve from TSC
$1.00 New and clean 5 gallon bucket
$14.50 for 50' of tubing to run water through ( lowes had it cheaper)
.95 for a kit to attach hose to bucket and siliconed it in good.

Like I think said in an earlier post Im good now on my larger birds they get good fresh water all the time with no effort on my part. Its the chicks that I am working on now. Im still using gallon waterers with the thin rim to keep them from getting in the water. 500-1500 chicks drink that by lunch time. So its pretty labor intensive. I work full time with our local EMS system so my girlfriend gets stuck certain days of the month due to work having to water by herself. She dont mind but I hate to have her do that. If I can help you with more pictures of what I have done let me know and I will see what I can find.
