Helppp, my chickens got into something will they be okay?!?!

So my son left out a opened bag of BBQ sunflower seeds on the porch. My chickens obviously found them and they have ate about half the bag between 6 birds, will they be okay???

What exactly are BBQ sunflower seeds? Are they different to normal ones?

Unless it was a 25 pound bag they should be fine, at most a bit of diarrhea is to be expected.

Sorry I should have been more specific. They are just regular sunflower seeds, coated in a BBQ seasoning powder. And it was just a single serving bag of seeds you'd get at a gas station or something, maybe 1/2 a pound or so.

Well, the seasoning powder might contain rather unhealthy ingredients for chickens, but I would estimate the ingested amount rather minor and not expect permanent harm.

If you have it at hand, you could feed them some charcoal tablets or diatomaceous earth.

Most likely they'll be fine, with maybe some funny looking poops for the next day or so. Given the typical BBQ seasoning for snack it's probably got a lot of sodium but one binge shouldn't do too much damage.
