My 6 month old pullets have started to lay finally! One of the first to lay is this Barred Rock pullet. I am less than enthused about her attitude however. When she sees me come into the run and coop she follows me around puffed up a little with one wing slightly lower than the rest. If I move my hand close to her or try to pick her up she will grab me (hard!) about 50% of the time. She also clucks to the others when treats are around and lets them eat first. She is not anywhere near the top of the pecking order and I have a 6 month old cockerel that just started crowing and mating. I saw other posts that others have had hens act like roosters but the fact I'm being attacked after hand raising these chicks is not cool with me.
Is there anyway to break her of her attitude? I may be getting a different older rooster in the future, not sure if that might help readjust her thinking.
