I got a white leghorn a couple of weeks ago and today I noticed she just wasn't acting right... she didn't want to come out the coop and stayed on the perch. I took her out and looked at her. I discovered she had lots of lice/motes on her so I put some powder stuff on her that I have that is meant to kill of the lice and then I gave her a calcium citrate tablet hoping that this might perk her up a bit. This was only an hour ago, and 10 minutes ago I saw her lying on the coop floor with one leg hanging out and she tried to get away from me but couldn't move- it's like her legs have just totally went. I picked her up and she is breathing VERY heavily. WHAT SHOULD I DO :hit

I’m sorry about your chicken. 🙁
You should probably bring her inside your house and make her comfortable in a box or crate with a soft towel/bedding.
Will she eat or drink? Put some electrolytes in her water.
Sorry I’m not much help. 💔

Edited to add: your other birds and coop are more than likely infested with mites/lice or whatever you found on your hen. Can you post some pictures?

I've had this same issue with my Isa Brown Phoebe. (sadly, she died before I could help her)
For me the best thing for mites is a warm bath. Fill up two tubs with water, one with some sort of animal friendly dish soap, and the other with ACV.
to help with the other problems, keep her in a warm area with electrolyte water and easy to digest food.
I don't know what else you can do about it, but this sounds like an emergency, so I'm going to tag some members who might be able to help.

Thank you. Unfortunately I can't bring her home because I don't live where my chickens are kept😢 she has been eating and drinking but I dont think I have any electrolytes..I deloused all my hens a few weeks ago and this new hen has been kept away from the others since I got her to let her settle so she hasn't been in much contact with the rest of the flock. Thank you for your help ❤️ btw what would you like me to post pictures of 👍🏻

The mites/lice on her

Please tell us what the ingredients are in the dusting powder you used on this

I don't have it on me right now to see what the ingredients are but here is the brand

Could she have breathed in the powder. I would do the bath with blue soap that has the duck in the label and ACV as mentioned above. Open her mouth to see if there is any of the powder remnants. I know you don't want to go against your parents' wishes but possibly ask them if you could use a cat/dog carrier to bring her home. Even if it's just to keep her outside?
