hen and chick

So I got some chicks a month ago for my hen to adopt.(I posted a post about that about a month ago but there’s just 1 chick now )And the hen is starting to abandon it so my question was when do they start to abandon their chicks because right now hes like 1 month and 2 weeks old.The chick still follows her and cries because the hen just keeps on walking and the chick loses her .She doesn’t care anymore sometimes she does go to the crying chick but rarely so is it normal for a hen to start to abandon a month old chick and for the chick to cry?

Completely normal. The chick is well old enough to not need a mama's warmth any more to survive. The baby will get over it time.

Downside to broodies.....when chicks are weaned they are 'lost'.
What happened to the other chicks?
Harder when there is a single chick.

There was 4 but 2 got lost the same day at night when we put them under her and about 2-3 weeks ago 1 out of the 2 disappeared we think a hawk took him ☹ so now he’s the only chick left.we do have some 3 month old chickens that are both hens and are only a little bigger than him so I’m thinking on closing them 3 together so both become friends with the chick
