Luckily I’ve got good neighbors. I don’t know them well but they came over later that night with flowers, a gift card to IFA, and promising to build another fence layer on their side. They are good people.

I think you are doing things right. I personally would not administer oral antibiotics at this time, but continue with warmth, cleaning and topical antibiotics (neosporin).

I am sorry to hear that your hen got attacked. It always catches me right in the heart to think if a chicken in pain or ill.

The two (equally) bright spots to your story are that she's still going & your neighbors! Please understand how (sadly) rare & wonderful it is to have such thoughtful and considerate neighbors. These are both things to be thankful for.

I hope your hen makes a full recovery and I look forward to hearing about her progress!
