Hen Battling a Black Rat Snake

Killed 2 of my beloved bantams that way. Wet heads and neck are an indicator as they try to swallow them but cannot get past the neck.
I'm sorry ! I lost one to a snake back in the 90's(my very first flock) Now I have predator proof coops & runs. The big ones are the ones I worry about.

that's exactly what happened to my rooster! Wet head and neck. He was huge so it couldn't get him down. We put up hardcloth wire after that!

Lost a bantam last night with the same predator signature. I know there's at least one large (~6ft) black rat snake around that I left in peace last time I saw it (see my post earlier in this thread). Next time I see it will be the last time I see it.

Run is surrounded by hardware cloth up to 4 ft, so we will also be adding another 4ft. of height to that.
