Not sure where to put this but there's a chick involved so here goes!! I have a silkie and her chick whose about 5 weeks old. Because my coop is off the ground the chick can't run free without being stuck outside..I'm wondering if I can put the two into my rabbit pen. We have 2 rabbits in a pen on the ground that we move around the yard. It would be nice for the silkie to have some fresh air but not sure if one would kill the other species wise. any advice on this would be appreciated

Lots of people keep their rabbits and chickens penned together. Lots of people have no problems with that set up. But, lots of people report some disturbing things happening. Like the rabbit(s) chewing or yanking out feathers, biting and injuring the birds, trying to mate them, ect. Silkies are pretty docile, for the most part. I wouldn't worry too much about the Silkie bothering the rabbits, but the rabbits.......it could be a heartbreaking situation.

I guess it all depends on your animals, and you wont know until you try. But, keep in mind, if your chick has a hard time making its way into the coop, how well will it be able to escape the rabbits? Which of the two will be bigger and faster?

Good luck.

My cousin said his lionshead males were starting to fight, and his rooster would break them up. I guess it just depends on the chickens and the rabbits. I'd make them their own run if it were me.
