Hen crowing?

I picked up a cuckoo maran out of a supposedly sexed group of hens. She is huge, has a big comb, and tail feathers that look like a roosters. This evening she didn't crow so to speak, it was like a "kwaa" and I haven't heard it before or since. Is she a rooster or a hen? I have pictures if that would help.
