Hen crows, rooster does not?

The traits the Millie is displaying are not sex specific. These are dominant bird traits, obviously the Millie is the dominant bird. 5 weeks is still kinda young to accurately sex but its safe to say the Porcelain is likely a cockerel.

Okay, so you think the Mille is still a pullet just acting like the boss, even over a rooster? Am I understanding correctly?

Ok. I humbly step aside to more experienced people. Hense why I tagged them. :-D

Thank you for responding and giving me your thoughts, there's no harm in that at all and I'm glad to see that you know when to defer to experience. That's a good thing! So many people will try to bluff their way through something just to look like a big shot.
Thank you again.

I've only been trying to figure this whole thing out for the last year. I've gotten good at figuring out most of the bigger ones, but D'Ulcces, not so much. I'm just trying to take a wack at them.

That's great! We all have to learn and d'Uccle's can be tricky. I've heard (this is my first whack at d'Uccle) that they tend to show their gender earlier than most others and since this porcelain popped a large red comb at 2.5 weeks old, I have to believe that.

Yes, even over a rooster. The pecking order in every flock is as follows.

Dominant Hen
Dominant Rooster
2nd dominant hen
3rd dominant hen
4rth, 5th, 6th, etc...
2nd dominant rooster "if there is one"

Really? I thought the roo was always top of the heap (when there is only 1) Wow, as long as I've had chickens and I never knew the alpha hen was over the alpha roo. Huh, learn something new everyday.
This eases my mind significantly, thank you.

I have two hens that will crow just like roos. One is definitely the flock boss. The other, is the "boss" of my younger batch. (5 hens are 7 yrs-old, 3 hens are 3 yrs-old) (old Australorp gal in my profile pic crows from the roost some mornings, and will definitely jump onto a lawn chair, throw her head back, and crow loudly like a roo. Hilarious!) You probably just have a dominance display as others have stated.

I have a girl that throws up hackles and will charge at others. She is the bottom of the pecking order and has to hold her own or they will pluck out her feathers. She is also the smallest in the flock. She is tough. If I hadn't witnessed her laying eggs, her behavior alone would make me suspicious she was a cockerel.
