My ‘hospital crate’ is covered in fly wire. Either try that or do you have somewhere inside, fly free, like a screen enclosed patio, laundry etc where you could keep her away from the flies?

iodine is harsh on cell growth. I recommend dip finger in honey, dab on wound, after a minute slowly pour filtered drinking water on the wound to wash off honey. Leave it to dry, dont cover. Works for humans too.

wounds that size often kill the bird. you may have luck this time.

Hi all! Sorry I haven't kept you all more updated - New Year got a bit busy. So I have been applying Betadine to the wound and a chicken - safe fly repellent used with cattle surrounding it. She is recovering really well! Thank you so much to everyone involved and all the support received! Some pics of my recovering girl.
