Hen died- Help! **RESULTS ARE BACK**

About 4 days ago I had posted about a rooster that had just died (as franklyfrancki). All of our chickens are about 1 year old. Here were his symptoms:

-Wasn't eating as well
-Was fighting for treats with the hens
-Was not drinking water
-Had bright green poop

He had these symptoms for months and near the end he seemed that he was getting better. He was running around, flying, doing everything a rooster does, so we thought he was better. Then on April 16, 2009 he died. I found him flat on his back dead. His mouth was slightly open, but he hadn't choked on anything.

Before he died, a hen was acting odd too so we seperated her (He was sick before she was) . Here are her symptoms:

-Not eating
-Not drinking
-Hasn't layed an egg for at least two weeks
-Her poop is normal
-Not eating even treats

Now she seems as though she is eating and drinking. She is still alive.

About half an hour ago I let the chickens out and I looked in the coop door and found one of our EE hens, Night, lying on her stomach, dead. Just yesterday she was acting perfectly normal. Here is what I found:

-She has no egg stuck/broken
-Her poop is a normal color
-Nothing was in her throat
-Her neck wasn't snapped
-There were no wounds/injuries

I am really confused and I would appreciate any help as to what this could be, what I should do, etc. before it happens again. Thanks in advance.

I don't know what is wrong but glad to bump your post up.

Have they had an illness? How old are they? Maybe if you give a little more info it would help and also help keep your post high on the list.

What a nightmare! I remember your original post about your roo. I don't know what it may be....maybe a virus of some sort????? Good Luck

You should go to the top of the emergencys/disease section, read the sticky and try and give us the answers to these questions an maybe some one will be able to help you better.

The ones that died, were they thin around the chest area?

No, they were not thin around the chest area. I will answer these questions:

1) What type of bird , age and weight.
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
3) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
4) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
5) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
6) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
7) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
8 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
9) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
10) Describe the housing/bedding in use

1) The rooster and the hen that just died were both EEs. The sick hen is a Fayoumi. They are all 1 year old, and I don't know their weights
2) Their behavior was normal besides the roo fighting for food with the hens
3)No there is not
4) Nothing that I know of
5) Layer feed and water
6) Normal excepts for the roo's green feces
7) We started them on sulmet because they were showing symptoms of disease
8) As far as treatment goes, we don't know if we should continue or stop sulmet
9) No picture caan describe it
