Hi everyone 👋

I have a hen who is eating my eggs and only my bantam eggs. I can leave all my other eggs in the box no problem, but she can't resist the bantam eggs. I noticed egg yolk in the nesting box a few days ago and today caught the hen in action so I know exactly who it is.

She lays eggs daily and all her eggs have a lovely shell so no signs of calcium deficiency.

Why has she adopted this behaviour and how do I stop her from stealing my eggs?

Thanks in advance 😊 photo of the culprit below 😂🐔

Collect eggs frequently whenever possible.
Blow out a few bantam eggs and inject them with hot yellow mustard and put them in the nest boxes for her to eat. She gets enough of that, she'll think twice.

Blow out the guts (poke a hole with toothpick on two ends then blow with mouth and the yolk and whites come out), make a larger hole, fill with yellow mustard, give to chickens. Works great!

A Chinese hot mustard, like this?

I thought chickens couldn't taste spicy. Is it just the mustard flavor they dislike?

I didn't think it matters. What matters is, it's not egg contents in the egg.
Blew out several eggs this morning, filled them with mustard, and distributed them in all the egg boxes.

The hens pecked and ate every bit of them, mustard and shells, right in front of me.

Hens are weird.
