Hen eats wood chips

They will nibble on these things occasionally. If she continues to eat them excessively, make sure she is not being bullied away from the feeders. Extremely hungry birds will eat anything to satisfy their hunger. And yes, too many wood chips can overwhelm the gizzard causing an impacted crop. Definitely offer grit if she doesn't have access to tiny stones outside. Good luck! :)

Mine did the same thing this morning.
Pecked a hole in a bag of wood pellets.
They were munching away like it was very tasty when I came out.
So dumb, right? I figured they'd eat pellets, so I got shavings. I couldn't believe it when i saw her pick up a big chip and swallow it. And then do it again! She was hungry, but that was my fault. She was being a bully and i stuck her in another run without food and forgot. She was there a little longer than i meant to leave her. I picked her up and put her by her food and she went to town on it. Shes got lots of little gravel outside

It's crazy!
I trust them with any plants, they seem to know what's toxic and what isn't.
Seen their reaction to polystyrene? :th
