Hen filleted open!

Very late to the game...but.....
First get a good look and pic of wound by cleaning and trimming feathers.
See if it went into abdominal cavity.
If it did, not sure I'd try to proceed myself.

Hydrogen peroxide is a good first cleansing disinfecting agent,
but not after that as it can destroy new healthy tissue.

Update!! Sorry it took so long to get back to y'all :)

The vet said that the wound was still fresh and soft, so it can grow back together without too much trouble! He stitched her up and placed a draining tube towards the top of the wound. I have to give her a shot twice a day of antibiotics, and syringe antibiotic ointment into the wound through the opening by the draining tube once a day.
She's doing well right now and is resting in her cage. But I was wondering if I should put any bedding in her cage or leave it without anything?

Thank you all again for your help!! I will keep you all posted on how she is doing.:hugs

Wow what a day for your gal.
I would leave the bedding out for tonight and play it by ear tomorrow.
If feathers are covering the wound OK and it doesn't look like it is irritated maybe it would be OK. Just wouldn't want anything poking the tender spots or sticking to it.
